VANDALIA - Butler improved to (4-1, 1-0) with a 10-0, run-rule win over Stebbins in six innings Monday evening. In spite of the cooler temperature and stiff breeze, the Aviators were red hot at the plate and on the mound.
Butler sophomore Jordan Taylor (2-0) dominated from the mound, striking out nine Indians through just three innings of work. Taylor was relieved by Evan Ables and Alex James who combined for five punch outs through the final three innings of work.
Offensively Joe Mendy and Luke Mitchell each doubled for Butler. Cason Bennett went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Mendy, Cayden Borchers and Gage Harestad each added two RBI. Mitchell finished with three RBI for the Aviators.
Weather permitting, MVL action continues tomorrow against Greenville at 5:00 PM.
