MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — In the first game of a Tuesday night doubleheader at The Ripken Experience, the Aviators put together a textbook performance — timely hitting, air tight defense, and a dominant start from junior Davis Ketterer (1-0) to shut out the Bowling Green Bobcats, 4-0.
The Aviators broke through in the third inning and never looked back. Sophomore Koby Dues got things rolling with an RBI single. Moments later, fellow sophomore Jackson Schilling roped a double to the gap, driving in two more. Senior Mason Reckner capped the four-run frame with a sacrifice fly, giving Butler all the cushion it would need.
Ketterer made sure of it. The right-hander was in complete control from the first pitch, scattering just two hits across seven shutout innings. He struck out four, walked one, and didn’t allow a single Bowling Green runner past second base.
At the plate, Schilling led the charge, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and calling a sharp game behind the dish. Dues added a hit, an RBI, and seven assists from third base as Butler played flawless defense — not a single error on the day.
Bowling Green struggled to find footing against Ketterer. Kasey Dean and Evan Meyer each recorded a hit, but the Bobcats couldn’t string anything together against the poised Butler starter.
The win moves the Aviators to 2-0, as they head into the nightcap against the Magoffin Hornets at 9:30 pm.
