Butler Spoils Tipp Comeback Bid 6-3

TIPP CITY - The Aviators' red hot streak remained intact Tuesday, with a 6-3 win at rival Tippecanoe.

In control for nearly the entire game, the Aviators gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh to give Tippecanoe hope as they tied the game 3-3.

Butler put things on ice in the ninth, plating three runs - two of which came off the bat of Alex Ables (1-for-3, 2 RBI) with a clutch two-run RBI to make the score 6-3.

Jordan Taylor came on to close things out in the ninth to earn the save for the Aviators.

In spite of the cold temperatures, starter Hunter Richardson (5-3) was hot on the mound for Butler, fanning out eight Red Devils through eight innings of work.

Offensively Max Rubins had a big day for Butler going 2-for-3 with three runs and four stolen bases.

Jayden Watkins had an impact day for the purple and gold as well, going 3-for-5 with a clutch triple, one RBI and a run scored.

Richardson helped his own cause at the plate, turning in a double, two RBI and two runs.

With the win, Butler improves to 15-5 overall and 10-3 in the MVL. Conference play continues tomorrow with a make-up game at Xenia.
