Butler Surges To Top Of Division With Sweep Of Piqua


VANDALIA - The Aviators sit alone atop the MVL after a 7-1 win and series sweep of the Piqua Indians Monday afternoon, kicking-off a big week of conference action.


Butler pitcher Mason Reckner (6-1) was solid through six innings of work, striking out three and allowed just three hits. Alex Ables came on in the seventh to close out the victory.


Offensively Hunter Richardson (1-for-2, 1 RBI) doubled and Austin Flohre tripled. Koby Dues added two RBI, while Ables, Reckner, Mitch Strehle, and Max Rubins each plated an RBI.


The Aviators (15-5, 12-1) eye a key division series starting Wednesday against rival Tippecanoe (13-6, 8-4) that will conclude under the Friday night lights at Buter.
