MIAMIVILLE - There was a time when playing Moeller (22-2) seemed like a "David and Goliath" matchup - those days are over. Over the last few years the Crusaders are seen simply as a worthy opponent and that's exactly what the #1 ranked Crusaders were Saturday, as they edged out Butler (21-5) by a score of 10-6.

It was a back and forth affair at the newly christened Kremchek Stadium, as Butler and Moeller both had productive days at the plate. The teams combined for 19 hits on the day, nine of which came off of Butler bats.

In the end - Moeller was able to capitalize with runners on the base paths to edge out the Aviators in what could very well could turnout to be a playoff preview game.

Cayden Borchers (2 RBI) and Casey Bennett (3 RBI, 2B) were 2-for-3 from the plate, while Jayden Watkins went 2-for-4.

Luke Mitchell, Max Rubins and Gage Harestad each had a hit - Joe Mendy added an RBI.

While the purple and gold fell short in this one - they again proved that they can go toe-to-toe with any team in the state.

The Aviators will get in a final tune-up ahead of tournament play, hosting Fairmont Monday at 5:00 pm.
